Guests Gathered at Vilnius Town Hall: Armenia’s Independence Day Solemnly Commemorated
On September 23, guests solemnly commemorated Armenia’s Independence Day. The Ambassador of Armenia to Lithuania, Ara Margarian, together with Mrs. Mary Badalyan, invited everyone to Vilnius Town Hall.
Lithuania takes pride in being the first country in the world to recognize Armenia’s independence and one of the first with which Armenia established diplomatic relations in 1991.
On September 21, 1991, the majority of Armenians voted in a referendum for Armenia to become an independent state. Each year, to mark its Independence Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lithuania invites Lithuanian society, including members of the Seimas, government officials, and members of the Armenian community, to various events.
