Screening of the “Aurora’s Sunrise” film

The film presents a story of Aurora Mardiganian, survivor of the Armenian Genocide. It’s a harrowing true story of a teenager who, suffering her murdered family, embarked on a remarkable journey that, among others, involved an incarceration within a Turkish harem, and then escaped to the US. Her story was eventually re-told in an “Auction of Souls” film by Hollywood produced in 1919.
“Aurora’s Sunrise”, directed by Inna Sahakyan and produced jointly by Armenia, Germany, Lithuania, has been named Best Animated Film at Asia Pacific Screen Awards. It is a winner of “Animation is Film” (2022), “Baltic Film Competition Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival” (2022), “Europa Film Festival” (2023) etc. The film is nominated for Oscar.
